Ganglion Cyst

A ganglion cyst is a mass of tissue that is filled with a jelly-like fluid. Ganglion cyst can vary in size. They can get smaller and larger overtime. They may disappear only to possibly return.


  • A noticeable lump
  • Tingling and burning
  • Dull pain or ache, which may indicate the cyst is pressing against a tendon or joint.
  • Difficulty wearing shoes due to irritation between the lump and the shoe.


Ganglion cyst are usually caused by some type of injury.


  • If no pain, just monitoring but no treatment
  • Shoe modification
  • Aspiration and injection-draining the fluid and adding steroid into the mass
  • Surgery
